Jack - American Staffordshire Terrier

Knows come, sit, down, heel, "with me" - stays within 15 feet while walking. Current home has 2 boys, 10 and 12, one 4 year old neutered dog, and until recently, a 16 year old cat - who expired of old age in March. He is playful, and will sit at the back door and "sing" to go outside for a break. He does counter-surf if tempting treats are left out, and will wear out rugged chew toys in hours or days. He will sleep on beds, couches and large chairs, but prefers his beanbag chair. Barks only occasionally, his preferred communication is a singing sound - I'd say whine, but its not whiny at all.

Meet and greet at park, followed by house visit and vet references will be required prior to adoption.

Re-homing fee: in lieu of adoption fees, a $100 donation (cash or money order) is required. The donation may be to either the Virginia Beach SPCA, or to Jack’s trainers – Nicely Trained Canines. He includes a feed dish, bean bag chair, and his 30 foot lead.

Very sweet dog, loving with a very calm, even disposition. Low energy, content to just lay back with a loving person. Lots of hair, but doesn't seem to shed much. We think he is house broken, but not sure. Doesn't mind sleeping in a kennel, just content to be wherever. Brindle colored, neutered male. Just watches cats and other dogs go by, so would probably be good in home with other pets. Seems a little nervous at first, but once you pet him he's your best friend. This is Lola. She is a 1.5 - 2yr old Lab/Mix. She is UTD on all vaccines, including Bordatella. She has been spayed. She is negative for Heartworms and on preventative. She is using Frontline for flea/tick prevention. She is crate trained and housebroken. She knows most of her basic commands, including how to sit and shake. She gets along with other dogs and I am told that she is scared of cats and would just like to leave them alone. She is a sweet dog in her manner, personality and temperament. She is very affectionate and is really happy to snuggle while you watch TV. She bonds quickly with her caregiver following from room to room. we need to find our dog sadie a new home. We rescued her about 4 months ago and recently her and our other dog started to not get along. she has NO problem with other dogs, but our dog of 3 years doesnt seem to get along any more with her. She is super great in every way. She is 2 years old and so sweet. she listens VERY well. She is a shephard mix, and is so soft and gorgeous. She loves to cuddle and be pet and loves long walks. she has been nothing but perfect with our child. she is not food aggressive, treat or toy possessive. we would love to keep her but the tension between the 2 is getting outa hand, we cant really leave them along any more. Takoda

This is Takoda. He is a neutered 11 mos old male Pitbull Mix. I've known Takoda since he was 8 weeks old when he first came into rescue. He was adopted to a good home in Maryland. The family adored him. They named him Takoda, an indian name meaning "friendly to all." And it suits him. There were 4 small children in the home and they were all best buddies. The family sent me pictures of Takoda and the children, frequently, all having the best time. Letting me know that Takoda was well cared for and happy. In the home was a spayed female Pitbull mix that was his constant companion. Life was good for him. His "Mom" (who was a vet tech) house trained him, taught him some of his basic commands, to properly leash walk, to come when called. He is current on all vaccines, negative for heartworms and on prevention. He uses Frontline for flea/tick prevention. Unfortunately there is only so much a great dog can do to insure he does his part to remain in a good home. What Takoda couldn't do was hold "Dad and Mom" together. He is, now, the product of a marital separation and his family can no longer keep him. Anyone looking for a good, all around dog, well past the trial and tribulations of puppyhood training, but still very young, could not do wrong by meeting this dog. Ollie

Ollie is a sweet little "saved from the pound mutt". When I saw him in the animal control pen and they said he was on his last day I could not leave him. He is 7 months old and about 25 pounds. He is probably a corgi mix of some sort but his underbite suggests maybe some pug? Since I've had him he has been neutered, had a cherry eye repair, started on heartworm preventitive, and been fully vaccinated. Some training will be needed to adjust to the human world, as with any puppy, but he has learned to sit and is house trained. He would do well with older children and other small dogs. The best home would also be cat free as he thinks they are fun to chase. Chi/Min Pin mix. Six years old, 12 lbs, Neutered. Up on all his shots and vet requirements (except bordatella). House/crate trained, but does have accidents if left too long (over 8 hours). Sweet and gentle, loves to snuggle next to you and sleep with you or on your chest in a chair. Got him from the pound. Still a little spooky and scared (doesn’t like sudden moves and loud voices) because he was probably abused before the pound. But has compensated well. Loves guys. Gets on with most any dogs, but not always initially. He acts like he wants to fight. But then, after introductions, plays well with others. I rescued him October of last year, he was flee ridden, and he was the only one to survive his litter. He was bread for rabbit hunting, but the breader knew he needed a good home and somebody to take care of him. I took him in and he has been more than a great dog. I work 8 hours a day, and this dog deserves so much more than what i can give him. We run on the beach everyday, and did puppy training with him. I just know as he gets older that he deserves a big farm to be able to run. He isn't aggressive at all, he is so sweet just likes to bark and play a lot. I know he would be so happy with a family and a backyard. I need help finding a home for my dog Diesel. He is a male American Bulldog/pit-bull mix. He has been neutered, he weighs 95lbs. he knows lots of commands and tricks. He is house trained and kennel trained. He is very sweet and loving. He gets along great with other dogs but has never been around cats. He has TONS of energy and needs lots of room to run.
