K-9 New Life Center receives upwards of 120 calls per month from people looking to place their dogs. We work out of foster home so space is very limited approx 30 total openings. We concentrate and assist dogs in shelters and pounds as they have no one to rely on and are on death row. This dog is your responsibility and you owe it them to keep them until you find them an appropriate home. We are more than happy to assist you in any way with placing your dog in a good home but we are unable to take in most owner turn in's. Please remember that this dog is a part of your family and deserves your patience. Finding the right home can take as short as a day to as long as many months. If you have a training or behavioral issue with your dog please do not give up on them!!!! Visit our link page to find a trainer near you that can help evaluate your dog and possibly help you to solve the issues that you and your dog are having. Remember no one is perfect and with time, patience and the appropriate guidance most behavioral issues can be solved! Also when moving please remember your animal http://www.peoplewithpets.com/ ! We ask would you leave your child behind then why leave a loyal, loving companion behind when it is not impossible to move with a dog! If you have exhausted all other options and still need to find your dog a home we will place your dog up on our website, on petfinder.com, as well as in our adoption book. If we do find a family interested in adopting your dog we then refer them to you. There is no charge for this service as we only wish to keep dogs from being euthanized. We do however appreciate a donation as we rely on these donations to allow us to take in and save more dogs each year! If your dog is a pure bred dog please check our links section of the website for a pure breed rescue as well as Kyler laird's Rescue Resources as well as the AKC's breed rescue list, and Breed Rescue Resources. Please screen any potential adopter! Here is an application, spay agreement and contract that you can use! Using these contracts will help you to screen any potential adopters. By carefully screening any applicants you are giving your animal the best chance at finding a home for life! Do not offer your dog free to a good home it is best to charge a small fee so that people do not take your dog on impulse only to turn them into the pound once the people decide that it was spur of the moment and a dog does not fit into their life style. If you do not feel comfortable accepting money require the adopter to make a donation to our center. Feel free to use this adoption application, contract and spay/neuter agreement to help you in this process. Also do not feel uncomfortable doing a homecheck and also checking to make sure that their current animals are up to date on shots! When doing a homecheck use your gut feeling and best judgment. Check the fence for holes since this is a prime escape route for an animal. Also check for hazards around the house. Remember this animal has been your companion and it is your responsibility to find this animal the best possible home.
Remember a donation is a appreciated for our assistance :-)

Typical reasons to give up a dog are
No time: well consider the fact that if you turn your dog
into a shelter they will have a total of 24hours-7 days of TIME left to live.
So you dog appreciates the time YOU, his human companion, are able to give
him as compaired to the alternative.
Having a baby: Why is this a reason to give up your dog?
You must balance a new baby with all of the other responsibilities in your
life. If you can make time for work, shopping, talking on the phone, cleaning
then you can make time for your dog.
Moving: If you have children would you rent a house with
only one bedroom? No. Well then why rent a house that does not allow you to
bring your loyal, faithful companion? There are other options
Behavioral issues/ and or house training: There are trainers
around that have dealt with every possible dog behavior issue. They are more
than happy to teach you how to work with your dog and resolve these issues.
Have you had your dog checked at the vet? Many dogs with behavioral issues
can have under lying medical problems that are causing the accidents, aggression,
or bad manners. If you the person that has been the companion to this dog
for it's entire life is unable or unwilling to deal with these issues why
would a complete stranger be willing to do any different?
Too Hyper: Enroll your dog in doggy day care so they can
get some energy out. Start an exercise plan for you and your dog. Throw the
ball while you are on the phone, pc etc etc. Do not allow the activity level
of the dog to cause it's demise instead learn to make exercising fun for you
and your dog.
Old Age: This dog has been with you and given you the best
years of her life and to abandon her in her golden years when she needs you
most is really terrible. Putting her through the stress and trauma of going
to a shelter will be very hard on her with no luck of a positive outcome.
Would you want to be abandon at a strange, scary place to live out the last
few days of your life? Or would you want to be with friends and family? Do
you reall expect any other person to adopt a dog that has out lived it's life
span?
